EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
PROGRAMS
A new relationship is in the making with a group called
IC Stars Astronomy, Inc. from Kansas City,
MO. Although they are quite away from Southern California, their story is
quite interesting and we believe we will do wonderful work together for our
friends in Latin America. The key to this relationship is their subsidiary
Southern Skies Star Parties (SSSP) and
their non-profit group The Star
Garden Foundation. The SSSP takes place in the mountians of Bolivia,
South America, where the OISC founder's wife, Ana Maria Silberman, hails.
A sample of the current OISC effort to help the SSSP can be seen at OISC
& SSSP where information was taken to the SPIE Conference OISC Table Top
Exhibit (see story under Recent Conference Results!)
OISC Director Donn Silberman has accepted an invitation
to assist the Discovery Science Center's
Exhibit Committee. As the DSC includes more exhibits that contain
optics, astronomy and related sciences, they saw the need to have a
professional optics engineer / educator join the committee. Check out the
exhibits and programs at the DSC today!! You'll be glad you
did!!
